Puppy Chow

My husband and brothers LOVE Puppy Chow. The kind of 'set-a-bowl-in-front-of-me-and-watch-it-disappear-in-one-sitting' type of love. All right, I'm not going to lie, I do too. Far from the stinky kibble you buy your pooch at the pet store, this snack consists of crisp cereal squares full of peanut butter fudge and tossed in powdered sugar!

Puppy Chow (adapted from the back of the cereal box)
Serves 2-10 depending on serving size :)

9 cups Chex or Crispix cereal (something with holes to let in and hold the fudge!)
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
1 stick butter
2 cups chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
about 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1. Measure out 9 cups of cereal into a large bowl, set aside.
2. Melt the butter, chocolate chips, and peanut butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
4. Pour over cereal and use 2 spoons to gently toss cereal until every piece is covered.
5. Sprinkle powdered sugar over chocolate covered cereal and toss to coat every piece, adding more powdered sugar as needed.
6. Spread out into a single layer on wax paper to cool, then store in ziplock bags or a large tupperware  container until you're ready to eat!

(NOTE: Despite the name, this is not for actual dogs/puppies! )
